Third annual Teacher Games set for Mesquite, Nev. Nov. 12-14

MESQUITE, Nev. – The 2010 Teacher Games in Mesquite has been scheduled Nov. 12-14 at various venues.
The third annual event will include competition in softball, bowling, 3-on-3 basketball, billiards, Bunco, poker, golf and a newly-added 5K run.
The Teacher Games has drawn representatives from several states each year with money won donated back to the school represented by the participants. Last year’s gathering generated more than $20,000 in cash and prizes for competitors that came from several states including Utah, Nevada and Arizona.
The event is the only one of its kind in the country and is expected to draw an even bigger field this year.
Last year’s top money winners were Granger High School of West Valley, Utah and Snyder Elementary of Las Vegas each winning $5,000. JT McWilliams was third with $3,650 in winnings while Myrtle Tate Elementary and Hickey Elementary tied for fourth place with $2,000 each.
Findlay Middle School rounded out the top six money winners with $1,100.
