Back-to-School Book Drive Extravaganza
Event Launch
Las Vegas, NV (August 6, 2010) –
Zaba’s Mexican Grill and Joe’s Crab Shack announces the launch of the Back-to-School Book Drive Extravaganza in honor of Spread the Word Nevada. Beginning Friday, August 6, 2010, an in-store book drive will be hosted by all area Zaba’s (5) and Joe’s Crab Shack (3). Each restaurant will be a collection site until August 22 and will offer food special incentives for every customer that donates a new or gently used children’s book (k-6). Our combined efforts are devoted to raising money to purchase new books and collecting new and “gently used” books for as many of our “at-risk” Las Vegas children as possible.
The book drive will conclude with a Spectacular 2-day Weekend Event on August 21 and 22 - just before the start of a new school year - designed to raise much needed money and awareness for this very special cause. 100% of all the collected books will go to Spread the Word Nevada and 100% of donated funds raised will go directly toward purchasing books for our kids.
Saturday, August 21st, from 4pm-10pm, we will co-host a social event at our adjacent Grand Canyon Flamingo Centre locations (I-215 & West Flamingo) that includes live music from local and national acts, food & drink specials, and a live auction emceed by Vegas TV anchor/celebrity, Ron Futrell. Sunday, August 22nd, from 11am-7pm, we will have a kid-focused day filled with fun events including numerous arts and crafts, performances by local children’s Singing and Dance groups, professional BMX stunt performers featuring Ricardo Laguna, face painting, balloon artists and ongoing raffle winner presentations.

Kids to Kids, a flagship program of Spread the Word Nevada, Inc., a nonprofit, 501(c) (3) corporation, serves low-income children and helps them create home library collections of books to read and share with family members.
