400,000 Hits for LocalsLoveVegas.com!

Less than three months and the hits just keep on comin'. Love getting the hits from Ireland, China, Africa and Brazil and many other nations throughout the world. Sort of interesting to see that happen. Love the hits from Vegas the most, but for some crazy reason people really like seeing what's going on in Vegas. More to come soon. We have had great response to the new video player.

Check out the Nov. 22, 1963 video from CBS news of the Kennedy Assassination. 2 hours of sobering video as it was covered that day. I know it doesn't have a whole lot to do with Las Vegas, but this is historic video that we have on the site, so we chose to make an exception. My favorite sports video is the 1985 Rebel Basketball game at Utah St. Triple Overtime! It ended up being the highest scoring game in NCAA history. Check it out. We have the 2nd half up on the site. Go to the SPORTS section, you will find it.

Wayner Wacked With Ward Wages

Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton is in some hot water with his former pilot, Monty Ward. Ward says the Wayner owes him almost half a million bucks in back wages, meanwhile Newtwon is wondering if some of the cash he made recently off performances at the MGM will go to him, or go to Ward. This is all assuming the MGM Mirage has the cash (it's safe to assume they do, but right now, who knows?).

Read the entire entertainment (and entertaining) story from John Katsilometes from the LV Sun.

Questions about Bullring Races

Lots of questions about the races that we shot Saturday March 21st at the Bullring at LVMS.

Our editor is doing a project in Germany and will not be back until the end of this month. The races have to be edited, then posted on the site. Sorry for the delay, but we are working to get the races up on the site ASAP.

thanks...Ron

Lawsuit To Try To Make Sports Betting National

New Jersey lawmakers are trying to change a federal law that restricts sports betting in every state, except Nevada. The idea here is to raise more tax dollars to help their state. If this happens, other states will certainly follow.

Will this hurt Nevada Sports Books? It certainly can't help. California is key in this issue. If this federal law is changed and California choses to make sports betting legal, that could take a bite out of the business in Nevada.

$2.6 billion dollars were bet legally in Nevada in 2008. The casino "take" was about $136 million. Billions more are bet illegally in America.

Is Completion of City Center in Doubt?

Trouble on the home front with the 9 billion dollar City Center project on the Strip, just south of Bellagio.

Reports are that Dubai World is filing legal action against MGM Mirage for breech of contract. Dubai World put nearly $6 billion into the project in 2007, and in return they got a 50% interest in the project and nearly 10% of MGM Mirage stock. Now, officials from the Persian Gulf country say they do not believe in the viability of the project and are taking MGM Mirage officials to court.

MGM Mirage officials feel that a deal can be worked out here, but certainly, trouble is brewing.
